I am happy to announce that I am running for Reno Municipal Judge, Department 4 in 2016. As a former prosecutor and current criminal defense attorney, I have a balanced outlook in criminal matters. This is especially important for municipal judges, as they most often deal directly with citizen members of our community who are unrepresented in their legal issues. Today, I am asking for your support in my campaign to be elected Reno Municipal Judge for Department 4.

I grew up here in Reno, attending Washoe County and Churchill County schools. I attended Boston University as an undergraduate, the University of California at Los Angeles School of Public Health, and the University of Minnesota Law School, graduating cum laude. Brian, my husband of 22 years, and I are raising our two daughters here; we enjoy all of the outdoor and cultural activities that our area has to offer, as well as the small-town feel that Reno has maintained, despite its recent growth. Part of that small-town spirit is a robust tradition of community support, and I have proudly supported many community organizations over the years, including the Boys and Girls Club of Truckee Meadows, the Reno Rodeo Association, Nevada Youth Empowerment Project, and the Reno Aces Baseball Club. I am also a member of the Board of Trustees of the outstanding Nevada Museum of Art.

I am privileged to have been a Deputy District Attorney in the Washoe County District Attorney’s Office for 7 years, handling all misdemeanors and felonies, especially crimes against children and crimes of domestic violence as a member of the office’s Domestic Violence Protection Team. For the past eight years, I have represented people accused of crimes, often falsely. My reputation in our legal community is one for enthusiastic, ethical and effective advocacy for my clients, irrespective of which side of the courtroom I am arguing from. I will bring my appreciation for zealous advocacy and fairness to the important position of Reno Municipal Judge.
